DIG team member Michael Dolan will deliver a presentation at the Unconventional Resources Technology Conference (URTeC) entitled: Geochemical Fluid Correlations of the Cretaceous Petroleum Systems, Denver Basin, USA

The DIG Team has collaborated to identify organic-rich sequences within the upper Cretaceous rocks in the Denver Basin. An extended abstract has been submitted and accepted. Both the abstract and a presentation will provide the details of the study. Weld County, Colorado is the study focus area. DIG has undertaken an oil to source rock correlation to establish end-members of source rock and applied this work toward a production allocation  platform.

Upper Cretaceous organic-rich sequences in the Denver Basin include Pierre Shale, Niobrara marl sequences, collectively termed Smoky Hill members, and organic-rich sequences in the Carlile Shale, Greenhorn Limestone and Graneros Shale. “The science is not settled” and this study offers Greenhorn and Graneros side wall core extracts to further the understanding of organic-rich source bed contribution interpretation to the Codell reservoir.
